On Friday 24 March, 2023, the IPCU held consultations with counterpart regulators of the Designated Processing Areas (DPA) programme.

The consultations were in reference to amendments being proposed for the DPA Act and Regulations. Regulators present included the Belize Tax Service, the Customs Department, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Financial Services Commission, the Bureau of Standards and the Attorney General’s Ministry. In addition, sector specific regulations are being proposed.

The goal of these consultations was to share the proposed amendments and to get feedback for their improvement. This was achieved and the updated proposals will be taken the DPA companies/stakeholders next week.
